NS100E Anti-Sway Sensor for Overhead & Gantry Cranes
The Noswing NS100E is the next-generation anti-sway sensor designed for overhead and gantry cranes. It continuously measures the hoist rope angle in real time and communicates natively via PROFINET, providing the critical feedback required to actively dampen load sway during all crane motions.
As the successor to the NS100, the NS100E introduces a modern PROFINET-based interface, replacing legacy Modbus communication, and is built for seamless integration with Siemens PLCs running Noswing anti-sway function blocks. The system now also supports an extended set of configurable anti-sway modes for greater operational flexibility.
What the NS100E Does
Every crane movement introduces natural pendulum motion in the load. The NS100E measures this motion directly at the hoist by detecting rope angle in two axes. This real-time data enables the PLC to calculate optimal acceleration, travel speed, and deceleration profiles that actively counteract sway.
With the updated Noswing NSCore anti-sway function blocks, the system now includes four selectable anti-sway modes, allowing users to tailor crane behavior based on application requirements, load type, or operator preference.
When used correctly, the NS100E enables:

Control System Requirement (Important)
The NS100E is a sensor only. It does not perform anti-sway control by itself.
To function as intended, the following is required:
- Siemens PLC
- Siemens-based anti-sway control logic, such as:
- Noswing NSCore anti-sway function blocks (latest version with extended mode support), or
- Siemens-compatible anti-sway function blocks
- Configuration of the desired anti-sway mode(s) within the PLC
- PLC logic must actively use the rope-angle data from the NS100E to generate motion commands
Without an appropriate anti-sway function block in the PLC, the NS100E will only provide raw angle data and no sway reduction will occur.
